In the context of international negotiations about the environment, the United Nations Climate Change Conference of de Parties (COP), organized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), stands out.

However, although with less media attention, biodiversity is also a prominent topic in international discussions, organized by the United Nations based on the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). This month, between December 8th and 10th, the Biodiversity Conference of the Parties (COP 15) will take place in Montreal (Canada).

Having as its central focus the concern about the loss of global biodiversity, the Biodiversity COP focuses on the commitment of the parties (countries and subnational representations) to meet goals for the conservation and maintenance of biodiversity. Between 2010 and 2020, the 20 Aichi Targets guided the signatory governments in their actions for biodiversity and, now, this COP 15 will bring on the agenda the Post 2020 Framework of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, proposing an action plan until 2050. There is much more to talk about on this topic ( https://www.unep.org/pt-br/events/conference/conferencia-de-biodiversidade-da-onu-cop-15 ), but let’s focus here in a specific session of this COP 15, the CEPA Fair.

CEPA is a CBD space dedicated to discussions and actions related to Communication, Education and Public Awareness in favor of the Biodiversity theme. The COP 15 will have a fair dedicated to the participation of different countries, presenting their works under this treme.

Through the Secretariat for Infrastructure and Environment of the State of São Paulo, the Environmental Education Coordination submitted 3 actions developed within the scope of this Secretariat. Check out some more about these actions below:
